The 1st edition of health research priorities was published in April 2014. Research domains were identified based on Delphi method, considering the priorities of research emanating from the eighth five-year plan for the development of health, regional research priorities, research priorities recommended by international organizations and research priorities that serve the health vision for 2050.
As we move towards 2050, these research domains have to be reviewed and updated periodically in the light of the changing spectrum of health problems. Hence, the 2nd edition lists dynamically the priorities of health research based on feasibility in each governorate of Oman and is an indicative practical guide for all health researchers. We wish health researchers in the Ministry of Health, other public healthcare providers, the private sector and academic institutions to make use of this booklet to direct their research to contribute to the development of health services and health status of the people.
